Perhaps you remember me, I was on here a few weeks ago talking about my rear wheel's wobble troubles. I fixed that problem (it was the hub nuts). Now I come to you with another query. My rear wheel now has this steady click sound (regardless of chain/pedal movement). It only makes the sound if someone is on the bike, which would leave me to believe the problem is something related to weight distribution, maybe the bearings. The wheel has no wobble to it, just the click sound. This is a road bike by the way. Any help is appreciated.

I had the same problem. Could be a couple of things. Most likely it is the spokes. I'd check the tension on them. If you have some loose ones they might need to tightened up. Watch with that though cause you may throw the wheel out of true. It could also be something with the cones. When you tightened them up you may have over tightened them. If the wheel spins fine that probably isn't the problem. If your hub and the surrounding area seems real dirty it may not be a bad idea to cleans it up and regrease the bearings. If you have the tools to pull the casette off its a pretty easy job, just requires a little patience.

Noises like that can be really hard to track down. I wouldn't necessarily limit myself to the rear wheel, it could be coming from anywhere on the bike. The first thing that you need to do is to analyze the frequency of the click. Does it seem to be in time with your crank rotation or wheel rotation? Does it matter if you are standing or sitting? The good thing is that it will either get worse and be easier to identify or will stay the same and give you more time to figure it out. Both are good because when it's your own bike you don't have the pressure of a time limit on stuff like this.
