Campy replacement axles

I have recently bought replacement solid axles for a set of campy high flange hubs. I plan on installing a single speed freewheel and am wondering how to adjust the new axles. Do I secure them in the hub so that the two exposed sides of the axle are symmetrical or do I offset the axle on the freewheel side? Every maintenance/repair book I find makes no mention of this.

no offset, make them even. We are talking about the exposed threads right?

yeah the exposed threads. I know with a freewheel cluster the axle is space out on the drive side. I was just curious if it needed to be spaced for a single freewheel or if you could just have symmetrical spacing of the axle on either side of the hub.

to clarify, should the axle be sticking out of the hub equally on both sides or equally from the non-driveside of the hub and the installed freewheel's outer edge?

Any additional thoughts on this, I would like to adjust my hubs today.

How much is sticking out on each side now? If it works now with the hollow axle, just try to duplicate that (distance from hub centerline to locknut on each side, that is).

I don't have the original QR axles so I don't have a frame of reference (which is my main dilemma).

If I run the axle symmetrical around the hub I should therefore be able to build a dishless wheel, correct? Or is this not advisable? (this is for SS freewheel) Sorry for stuffing this thread with my own comments, I'm just hoping someone will have the answer as my web search has been futile.
