J-Tech barend shifter for Alfine

I just finished installing one of these for a customer.

This install was on a touring style bar rather than a drop bar, so shims were neccessary.

Because neither the shifter nor the cassette joint is equipped with a barrel adjuster, it is neccessary to put one in line.

I know, the picture makes it look like it will clang on the chain stay, but that really is not the case.
I like the way it works. Feels good, works well.

Nice job... looks great. I just received my shifter down here in Tokyo this week. It is my weekend project ... well, building the rim up is the first...

The frame is a Cook Brothers. They were primarily a bmx builder, and I don't know if they are still around.
It is a cool looking frame, but I'm not sure I care for the continuous tubing style seatstay/chainstay.

Yikes! No front brakes. Looks nice though - just don't get going too fast.

The shifter you got is silver, not black like the one on their site: did you ask for this specially?
Sadly, availability in silver makes it even more inevitable I will be buying this after circumventing SWMBO issues.

The fellow I did this job for ordered the parts on line. the shifter was black anodized, but he polished the anodizing off. Black just didn't fit the look he wanted.

Ah, bummer. I wonder if jtek would sell them minus coating; it seems to be a one-man shop, or close to it.

Shimano needs to send Jtek a cherry tree sapling, a case of nihonshu and either a geisha girl or sumo wrestler to help out around the office/shop.

Dan,

Schweet installation.

Easy Off oven cleaner will take the black anodizing off.
