lubing front shocks.

I have this stuff called Polylube 1000, it was recommended by the shop I got my bike from originally a couple years ago. I have a 2008 GT Avalanche 3.0, and it has a SR Suntour XCM fork, 100mm travel. Anyways, it feels like I can never get my shocks lubed properly. Once I apply the lube and put the fork back together it seems like all the grease comes out. I'd say maybe a very very very thin layer of the grease stays on there, I mean so thin that it's not visible and this polylube stuff is green, and my shocks feel lubed for about a day. I go on a trail or a ride on the street and they're stiff again. I remember when I first bought the bike I went on atleast 10 trail ride before it felt like my shocks needed to be lubed, and when I did take it apart you could see there was quite a bit of grease on there. So what am I doing wrong?

Honestly? Expecting too much out of a fork from SR Suntour. You may be able to rebuild, or have the fork rebuilt, with new damper seals, glide rings, bushings, dust wipers, and possibly a whole new damper circuit. However you would be better served, and probably spend the same amount, if you were to purchase a new fork from a manufacturer who serves something other than the budget MTB and comfort hybrid markets.

Yeah, the guy from performance bike did tell me my suspension fork was crap but I have to work with this until I have the money to get something good. I've had this in mind for a while, what do you think?

I've got the Recon solo air waiting for a build, it looks like a good midrange quality fork.... just don't pay anything near retail and it should do a good job.

There are both better and worse options, for varying prices, but the Recon seems to hit at a nice midpoint.

The Recon is a decent fork. I would say that you may not need the adjustable travel... and coil sprung forks are heavier. However it will serve you well if you take care of it.
