Replace Spoke in Rolf Vector Pro?
 

Anyone know if you are able to replace a broken spoke in a Rolf Vector Pro. I had picked up a pair of these wheels a little while back for $40 and after riding a couple times one of the rear spokes broke. It appears to be a simple bladed spoke just not sure if they are replaceable.

They are replaceable, but there are none available. I'm looking to get an inexpensive used set, broken spokes are fine. So that I can get mine up and running again, and have some spare parts for the set on my wife's bike. If you want to sell them instead, let me know. I'll be happy to give you the $40 you paid, + shipping to get them here to me.

At least assuming these are the old ones that Trek sold. The stickers with the brand/model are orange.

I will consider that. Are there spokes that are similar to those that you could use?

I was advised early this morning by a wheelbuilder that the Sapim CX-Ray spokes will work. I have a few on order. I will post the results back to here. It will be a great relief to be able to get functional spokes for these wheels, even if they aren't exactly the same.

Either way, I'll know in a week or so.

I have used DT Aerolites. The harder part to replace is the hidden nipple. And how about the requisite spoke wrench! Talk about proprietary. Be extremely careful with tension; these are so low spoke count (16 in the rear?) that I would be very wary once one spoke had popped. I replaced one in the rear wheel on my girlfriends bike, and a week late one more popped. At the end of the season I examined the rim and found cracking. I like these wheels, but there's a reason Rolf-Prima now has a disclaimer on their website asserting that they did not have anything to do with these wheels and issues must be directed through Trek.

Whew, what a relief. It turns out, there are a bunch of different spokes that will work. Just need the right size for whatever the pull is. A local shop was able to hook me up today.

Joel, could you give more info on which replacement spoke and nipple you bought. That would be appreciated. Also, where did you get the tool for the job? Do you have seller and part number for that? Thanks.

I used the spoke nipple (actually a nut) that came with the wheel originally. I'm sure a good shop would have other options that will fit. As for the spoke, they were made by Sapim. The model is "CXRay". I don't recall the length. I measured one of the spokes still on the wheel and ordered the same size. Ordered from these guys: https://www.prowheelbuilder.com/

This will be annoying to anyone currently perusing the forum, but I wanted to get the info all in one place for anyone looking in the future. I'm replacing a spoke on my Rolf Vector Pros, front wheel. A standard 3/16 nut driver will work for the recessed nipple. The spokes appear to be Sapim CXRays, although I bet other bladed spokes would also work. On my clinchers, there are no washers (apparently present for tubulars, at least according to Rinard's Spocalc). My measured length is around 281, Spocalc gives 282.8 (front wheel, Trek manufacture). Nipples look to be alloy (ugh), I'm considering replacing with brass but not sure I want to do all that work. Hope this can save someone some time in the future.

I think I might have some spokes for the Rolf wheels, I know I have the original tool, I will find it tomorow and post a pic. of it. I even have a brand new front wheel in gold :) .
Let me know the lenght of the spokes and I will check for it.

I just got a spoke from my local LBS - not a perfect match, but good enough. My nipple wasn't too pretty, but just surface corrosion. Trued and back on the bike already. The wheel did not even really go out of true with that spoke missing. Crazy stiff.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but:

Take it as a hint and throw the wheel away, the hub will fail--it's just a matter of when and how far away from civilization you are at the time

Guys - there's nothing special about your rofl vector pro wheels, most bladed spoke wheels that take either a J-bend/standard head using non-proprietary nipples can be substituted with pretty much any spoke you can think of, including round ones as long as the length is the same.
