105 rear derailluer and rapidfire?

I've got a compatibility question. I'm parting-together a Lemond Poprad disc frame build and wonder if there are issues running a 9 speed Sram trigger shifter or LX/XT rapidfire shifter with a 105 9 speed rear derailleur, single chainring up front. This ride only has disc mounts so I'm considering going with Avid BB7 mtb and v brake levers on a flat handlebar, instead of BB7 road and STI/drop down option. I would assume Shimano 9 speed shifter would work with any Shimano 9 speed derailleur, but wanted to make sure before I purchase. I searched and couldn't find anything. Thanks!

If it is a sram esp shifter, will not work with a shimano derailer. Otherwise should work fine.

Works for me

I build up an old MTB frame into a Urban bike and use sram attack shifters with a XT front and 105 rear shimano derailleurs. It shifts great, I think better than my XT shifter/XTR derailleur setup on my MTB.
Cassette is a shimano 12-27 with a XT triple crank in the front. So as you can see it is a mix of road, mountian, shimano and sram stuff. It really works great.

My new ride will definitely be a mut. Cyclocross frame, road or hybrid tires, disc brakes, flat handlebars, 9 speed. I can't wait to finish it!
