creaking thompson elite set back seatpost

Has anyone else had a problem with a thompson set back seat post creaking? It appears that there is visible wear on the clamp that contacts the rails of the saddle. On the reviews I read some had this problem but none gave a solution. I'm thinking of filing a larger groove before I order new parts.

Have you tried applying a little grease to the clamp and/or rails?

Hahaha...nice...I JUST posted the same problem with my seat/seatpost interface. I have an AC seatpost. I used grease the last time and it helped for a while, but the problem is back. I tired motor oil this time...test ride says it's good. We'll see how it holds up.

I tried the grease and retightened. It quit for a awhile. Maybe one ride. The post is great but the clamp appears to be of poor design.

you want some lube or grease on those titanium bolts.

you've got to be kidding, it's one of the better clamp designs which are very secure and doesn't cause a lot of stress on the saddle rails.

maybe it's your saddle

I thought the same thing so I tried another saddle and also lubbed the rails where they go into the saddle. Neither one helped. I tooke the clamp clear off, cleaned it up, that's when I noticed the wear marks on the clamp, like it had been moving and rubbing.

tighten it more.

the clamp is surprisingly forgiving from over tightening.

That was my thought. I have the same seatpost and it's been completely silent for 10,000 miles. You do have to tighten the clamping screws very firmly.

I have the same seat post and it runs silent. If tightening it more doesn't fix it, you could also try applying some FSA Friction Paste (your LBS might stock it) where the clamp contacts the rails. I don't think filing and removing material from the clamp is a good idea.
