Paul Melvin Issues

Anyone here use a Paul's Components Melvin chain tensioner? I recently put one on my Pugsley but I'm having issues with chain jump/skip when I put pressure on.

I haven't had much time to try and diagnose, but I figure it's either a rear alignment issue (but it looks pretty good) or an issue with the rear hub being too far forward in the track ends. Any ideas?

Background: I added the Melvin as I use 2 different wheelsets for my Pug (1 for commuting and 1 for Pugging), and I'm trying to make the wheelswap easier. I figured the Melvin would help me with alignment and brake adjust issues. Alignment is a problem because I have an Alfine hub and it's tough to bolt down tight enough to prevent sliding in the dropouts, which in turn makes brake adjustment a pain as I never get the wheel in exactly the same position. The Melvin should allow me to just slide the wheel to the front of the trackends every time, ensuring perfect alignment and reducing brake adjustment. The Melvin also allows me to run 2 chainrings up front (1 for commuting and 1 for Pugging).

Mike,
I see that this post is a couple of years old. I hope you have figured this one out, because I am in the same boat. My commuter has a Melvin with two chain rings and a single freewheel. It is skipping. It looks like it is properly aligned. I have tried moving spacers around. No difference.
Thanks, Ron.
