Chain rubbing question

Just to make it clear upfront, this is not a cross chaining issue - my chain rubs the inside of the FD when I'm in the small chainring and large cog (road bike with a compact crank and a 11-28 cassette). I've tried adjusting the low limit screw and it doesn't seem to move the FD a bit. I've even done it with the cable disconnected; it still rubs.

I was reading the Park Tools web site and they mentioned a misaligned FD. I guess that this could be the problem, but this is a recent problem and I haven't changed the angle of the FD, but I'll check it again when I get home.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Cliff

You can undo the little screw that holds the back of the cage together and put a small washer between the plates. This will gilve you a little extra width at the back of the cage. bk

Try unscrewing the derailleur from the frame and resitting/realigning it if fiddling the the limit screws without cable tension didn't help.

Thanks, Will that move the FD inward because that's the direction I want it to go? It's rubbing the inside side of the FD.
