Linseed oil as rustproofer?
I've been calling around locally looking for a can of JP Weigle's Frame Saver, and have been told by three mechanics (none of whom had what I was looking for, but all of whom were willing to order it for me) that linseed oil would work just as well. Does anyone have any experience with this? How is it best applied?

this oil is as good in protecting from rust as any old fashion oil based paint would. Which is not great..
I would go with frame saver.. Its ~$15 a can and will do 4 or 5 frames..

Years ago, I got the idea that linseed oil would prevent rust. Covered a saw blade with it and was greeted with a heavy coat of rust in a week. Not exactly a scientific study, but I wouldn't trust it.
