Check the headbadge,
First three is the day of the year, and the last is the last date of the year. So mine was 355th day of 1985. We can tell by the decals if it was a 70's vs and 80's post a pic.
You'll find more information based on date than serial. My serial is located right above the headset.

Here's a nice site with catalogs from 1980-1990.
https://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1980_1990/
Here are catalogs through 1979:
https://www.geocities.com/sldatabook/publications.html
I like Schwinn Travelers from that era. I had a '79 Traveler that was a lot of fun and great transportation for me when I was young. I commuted on it, rode it with my girlfriend who is now my wife of 25+ years, rode it with guys who had fancier road bikes, etc.
I worked at a taco stand, saved my money, and bought it for somewhere around $200 I think. Seemed like a lot of money at the time. The fit the Schwinn shop did consisted of me standing over the bike, not racking myself, and the bike shop guy saying, "that's the size you need!"
Those were the days.
