bottom bracket won't go in flush

Hello,
I'm putting a new tange sealed bottom bracket, 68mm, into a NOS frame i just bought. The frame is a Sekine, 68mm bottom bracket. It's never had a bottom bracket in it before and the BB i have does not thread in very smoothly. Anyway the bb won't go in flush and the bb does not sit straight in the shell. What to do, do the threads need to be reamed maybe? Or is this situation just a case of a faulty frame?

as long as you didn't force it in you should be ok. The threads need to be chased and perhaps the BB needs to be faced to properly engage the bb.

It's possible there's something wrong with the frame but i'd bet if you take it into a shop and tell them what's up they'll be able to fix it for you in a jiffy.

It sounds like you cross threaded it, but unless you forced it it'll probably clean up ok

well lets hope I didn't muck anything up. The frame is steel and i'm not too strong, so maybe it's ok still, guess the shop can tell me when they see it. Thanks for the help.

Face and chase (sp?) should run about 35 bucks at a reputable LBS. Should be fine, there may be paint on the threads and it is causing the issues, chasing it will give a nice thread.
