Bad Luck? Not Doing It Right?

My tube has 8 holes in it now ...
Let me give you a list ;
-First time-I ran over a small bit of metal... I patched up my tire and everything is cool.
-2&3 time-Tire just went flat...Open the tire up , put it under some water , 2 holes? Patch it up!
-4-5-6 - Go for about a month and my tire out of no where goes flat. Open it up , 3 diffrent holes...patch'em up
-7-8- Happened today. open tire up , take out tube , find one hole. Patch it go riding for 3 second flat again? Open up , new hole

Now I know I need a new tube. No Doubt. But before I go spending money on a tube I want to ask a question...

Is this just a terrible tube? Or bad luck on my part Or could it be from the tire itself? I have looked inside the tred and the rim and I see nothing that can pop it as fast as its being popped or anything sharp enough to pop such a thing...

History of the bike;
The only problem besides the tube problemo I have has is I bent the back rim about a 2/4 of a inch...Which I decided to not fix myself but instead have professionals fix it. and I did so and they fixed it in a half an hour or so. I have some gear problems but fixed that.. besides that this bike has been gold to me , aslong as you don't count the back tire.

Change your rim tape. Use VELOX FOND DE JANTE. It worked wonders for me.

Could be bad luck or could be something stuck in the tube that you aren't finding. Do you mount the tire on the rim the same way each time? Placing the tire's label at the valve stem allows you to see where a hole is in relation to that point. Helps a lot when you find a hole to know what part of the tire to look closely at.

If you're getting multiple holes at once, it seems to me like something's wrong. Are they pinches or punctures? You could conceivably get multiple pinch flats simultaneously. Multiple punctures would mean that you're riding over a field of thumbtacks or something.

maybe your rear tire sucks. is it really thin? do you ride over rides with lots of debris on them? in the rain? I never get flats. One day I finally got 3. looked at tire. lots of tiny holes. replaced with thicker tire. no more flats.
