Replace XT cassette with SRAM? Comments......

I've got an old XT cassette that has finally reached its end. I'm thinking of being cheap and going with a SRAM cassette to save a couple bucks. Does anyone have any comments on how this may affect the shifting? I still want it shift crisply and will just be upset with myself if it doesn't work as well.

Please share your experience. Thanks

My experience was that the SRAM stuff shifts just fine.

I have always been happy with the shifting on my SRAM cassette (with Shimano shifters).

Yeah, don't think of it as cutting corners -- the SRAM stuff works as well if not better as anything Shimano puts out. Like their chains, the SRAM cassettes have different levels of quality, so you can get, for example, a 951, 971 or 991 cassette.

Good to know, I appreciate the feedback. Looks like the SRAM will be the winner on this one.

+1.

I don't think of SRAM as inferior quality. I run SRAM cassettes and chains on my mountain and road bikes with zero problems. I'm glad Shimano has some serious competition now.

They both work fine, find the best deal either Shimano or SRAM, not a big deal. Watch your weight and price, wouldn't worry about shifting.

I've interchanged Shimano and SRAM cassettes from several price points. I haven't been able to detect a difference.
