Wellgo Look-style pedal overhaul
I just got a pair of Wellgo Look-style pedals in a trade, and one of them is a bit sticky. I'd like to replace the bearings and the grease, but I can't quite figure out how to take them apart.
It would appear that I need to loosen the splined plastic "locking sleeve" from the body of the pedal itself, as per this photo: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...g?t=1245281746 Do I definitely need to get a proprietary tool to loosen that? What comes after that step? Thanks, R |
Yes, you need the tool unless you don't care about completely destroying the plastic sleeve. The tool is cheap so you might as well. Assuming they are designed like my Shimano SPD-SL pedals which use the same plastic sleeve, once you unscrew that, the whole pedal spindle and bearings will come out as an assembly. On the outside end, there will be an 8mm nut that you remove to get at the bearings. There is no adjustment though. The nut just gets tightened down until it stops on a lip on the spindle.

Hmmm...can the Shimano axle removal tool be used on Look pedals?
