What rear derailleur can I use?

I need to replace the rear derailleur on my Mongoose mountain bike. The previous derailleur jammed and twisted. The only thing I know for surte is that I need a direct mount style as my bike did not have a hanger. I did take some pictures of the mounting area. Thanks for your help.

The bike in your pictures does appear to have a derailleur hanger. Since it is a mountain bike, looks like a seven speed cassette, and probably has shimano shifters something like this Shimano Alivio:

Would be a reasonable replacement.

The only caveat is that since your derailleur twisted and bent it could have also bent the hanger. You can check it by eye, but it may be a good idea to take it to a bike shop and have them check it with a tool like this:
