Problem with my bike pump

I recently bought a new bike pump, 'Injex T-Zoom'

I was assured by the salesman that it worked with all kinds of valves. I also bought several spare tubes. I'm in the middle of changing my back tire but I can't figure out how this pump is supposed to work with the valve.

This is the valve I know it DOES work on:http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...li/Photo42.jpg

This is the valve on my new tube: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...li/Photo45.jpg

Does anyone know how to make this pump work on that valve like the salesman claimed it could, or will I have to go yell at him and buy a new pump?

That is a Presta-valve. To fill a Presta tube you first need to unscrew (counter-clockwise) the little brass nut on the top of it - at the end of the valve. It does not fully unscrew - just maybe 5mm or so. If the tube has air in it already, just press down on the end of the valve so it blows out some air. This ensures the valve is open and clear. No air? Don't worry. Now press the pump chuck (the part the air goes through) firmly down on the valve. Then flip the lever to close the chuck around the valve. Pump! Pump! Pump!

If it still doesn't work - go yell at the salesman.

Thanks panther, worked like a charm. Unfortunately now after putting my wheel back on I realize my brother isn't nearly as good at truing wheels as he claims. This is just a great day.

Translation: This is not the greatest day in the history of the world.:D

Options: Let your brother try again. Or, teach yourself a new skill. Or, the local bike shop.

No worries. I actually know how to true a wheel alright. But my brother has been learning bike stuff and wanted to try it out so I, being the gracious (lazy) guy that I am, let him :)
