I need an 8 Speed Campagnolo derailleur
Hi all,
I need an 8 Speed Campagnolo Mirage derailleur & Cable for my road bike. As technology has moved on to 9 & 10 speed I'm having problems locating one. I live in the UK, Garstang.. Lancashire..
Would a 9 speed mech do the job?
Any help appreciated..

I think the early 9-speed Campy RD's had the same actuation ratio as the 8-speed. I don't know how to tell the difference. I think the change was made in 2001. You could ask at CampyOnly.com.

The info posted by Al is correct. Any 9s RD pre '01 will work. I'm using a Chorus 9s on my 8s Ergo drivetrain. 8s were too hard to come by at a reasonable price, at least at the Record/Chorus level.

I have a 1992 short cage 8sp Chorus I used for a few years (approx 11,000 miles). It's obviously used, but it's well made and am sure it would easily last another 10-15,000 miles. I'll give it to you if you pay the shipping.

According to the United States Postal Service website (usps.com), a 1 lb first class package ships to the UK for $10.76, 12 oz for $9.04. The Priority Mail International Small Flat Rate Box (6 - 10 days) is listed at $12.95. Your choice. If you want it, try sending me a private message and we'll work out the details.

Now I'm using a Dog fang chain deflector on my Record 10 speed bike. Just in case the chain decides it wants to jump off the inside chain ring. I stayed up, I hope you weren't too hurt.

Just received a sore shoulder and ankle. I was lucky as I was thrown into a hedge/grass verge. If I had gone the otherway I would have been under a truck!
By the way what is a Dog Fang sounds a good investment? Would I be able to fit one on my 8 speed set up ?
