Shimano Octalink V1 Woes

So, for quite some time I've had an annoying creaking when I pedal. I traced it down to the right-side crank. It seems that unless I tighten down the crank bolts REALLY right (like 60-80 ft lbs, at least) that side likes to creak. Wrapping the BB-crank interface with two layers of teflon tape seems to quiet everything down. Is Octalink just prone to creaking? Or should I look into replacing my crank in the near future?
