silca superpista repair question

I've been slowly rebuilding a Silca Super Pista floor pump over the past year with fine results except for one recent issue. Lately, the joint between the hose and the chuck has been leaking air. I have tried tightening the screw gasket as tight as possible and it still leaks air. Can I add some lube here to seal the joint? Is there a secret to sealing this? Its driving me crazy and I'm almost ready to buy another pump.

thanks in advance!

I have one of these. The gasket is worn out, you need to replace it.. or you can push it to the side when you are pumping to create the seal.

You could try an O-ring...or make one with a leather punch.

The joint between the hose and the pump head leaks? The hose is probably cracked. Snip it off and use a hose clamp to hold the hose onto the pump head.

oops..i should have read the op more clearly. But this sounds like a viable solution. I've done something similar with my coolant hose in my car for a temporary fix.
