Missing Insignia

Hello all,

So when I was camping, I went riding around a lake with a buddy of mine who was new to riding. after a high speed turn I looked back so see if he had made it alright. Silly me, this caused me to run of the path and crash my wonderful bike...

I love my bike, its a 1989 Trek 1400 with Shimano 105 parts... the first year Trek used Aluminum for their frames. The crash destroyed my front wheel, but other than some bumps and bruises everything was OK.

I got the bike home and discovered the front Trek insignia had fallen off. It appeared to be attached with mere double sided tape, perhaps from the previous owner. This of course saddened me, as the fact that its kind-of a vintage/heritage bike is what appealed to me. Now it doesn't have its marque...

My question is, where do I find another trek insignia, preferably from the time period? Trek does not give them out, and I haven't found anything like it on ebay. Also, is it called an insignia?

I would be willing to buy another frame if that meant I tear of the insignia... A little Help?

Bikes: I never learned to ride a bike. It is my deepest shame.

It is called a "Headbadge."

I cannot guess where you might find one.

I found one by posting in the ISO/WTB thread in C&V. On ebay they generally go from $10+shipping for a fair one to $40 for a NOS one. I bid and missed on a few. And they came from the factory stuck on, no more screws after about '82 or so.

you can try ebay. headbadges come up occasionally. decals are much more common however.
