avid and shimano rotor sizes

currently i have avid juicy 3's on my bike with a 185 rotor up front and a 160 rotor in the back. i want to put some shimano deore xt brakes on there in place of the juicy 3's. however shimano's rotor sizes are 160, 180, and 203. when putting on the xt brakes i was hoping to use the old rotors. so i quess my question is can i use an avid 185 rotor with a XT 180 brake. is there any big difference or is it just the way the two companies measure their rotors
