Brooks B17 Saddlefitting problem - rail width
I just bought a Brooks B17 saddle for my cyclocross/tourer and I'm having a problem mounting it on my seat post. The seat rail width on the new Brooks saddle is 1 5/8" whereas the seat post rail width is 1 3/4". All my other saddles and seat posts have a width of 1 3/4"
I called the LBS and they said that all Brooks are standard width. Is this true? Do I force the rails open to fit the rails? Is that a common fix because is would take a fair bit of force to open the rails to fit the seat post. Thanks Canflyboy |
same here
I tried to gently wedge the rails apart without too much luck. eventually they slipped into position when clamping it down. btw I commute ~9mi RT everyday and grocery shop without any problems so far. |
One of my five Brooks saddles has that issue. It's an old Colt. The clamp forces the rails into correct position as I tighten it. It hasn't been a problem.

It's a common problem. They'll more or les conform once you clamp it.

force it- the rails are steel and they will slip right into place
