Neophyte imagination...
Hello to all.
My name is Gustavo, this is my first post in the forum. I'm pretty far from an expert mechanic.
I am building a hybrid bicycle, my original idea was one 1x9 drivetrain, but now I have a new idea and wonder if it is viable ...:
The idea is a drivetrain 1x5 with a crankset XT (Only the chainring 36) and transforming a cassette XT leaving only 11,15,20,26 and 34. But locating them between 3 ª and 7 ª, to avoid to twist too much the chain but preserving the gear range. Is it a good idea? Is it viable?
Thanks in advance.

I think you can do this; however the shifting may be a little sluggish given the jump between gears. I say go for it.
