Campy Sq Taper BB drive-side IS IT A LEFTY THREAD?
i have a campy square taper bb on a campy square taper crank. it has a creak.
i've tightened the non-drive side with approbriate campy bb tool would like to do so on the drive side. is it 'regular righty-tighty' or reverse thread? |
That has nothing to with being Campy. English threaded frames have left hand threads on the drive side and Italian thread frames have right hand threads on both sides. I assume you're talking about the BB cups threads and not the bolts holding the crank arms. Those are ordinary right hand threads on both sides.

Could be either, depends on who built the frame.

You should torque the right side to spec before doing the left. We are talking about a sealed bearing BB and not an adjustable "loose-ball" type. Right? And yes the direction of the threads depends on whether it's Italian or English threading. Also, Campy recommends keeping the threads dry. I find that if you leave 'em dry, they will creak. For me, greasing the threads gets rid of the creak.

Campy recommends nothing on the threads because they don't have to remove seized bottom brackets because they don't actually ride their bikes.
