Mixing Spoke Brands (DT + Wheelsmith)

I'm about to build up a rear wheel based on a 36h Tiagra FH-4500 hub and a Mavic CXP33 rim. As luck would have it, I have enough spokes on hand of the right lengths (288/290mm) that I could use either Wheelsmith 2.0/1.7 or DT Swiss 2.0/1.8 spokes for the entire build.

But I know there are a number of people on here and elsewhere that advocate building a rear wheel using a lighter gauge spoke on the non-drive side (see this thread as an example).

So I was thinking of maybe using the DTs for the drive side and the slightly thinner Wheelsmiths on the NDS. Would this be worth doing, i.e. can I just look at the spoke gauge and assume that a 1.7mm spoke will be stretchier than a 1.8? Or, are there enough differences in materials and manufacturing process between the two brands that it's kind of a shot in the dark?

I haven't seen a convincing technical argument for having heavier spokes DS, but I haven't seen a convincing argument against it either. Either way will make a good wheel. Having diferent brands adds some esoteric charm to the bike.
