cassette wear
How do I know when my cassette has been worn?
I am at the 1/8" chain wear right now but would like to look to see if its worn. My favourite gear appears to be the same as the rest of the gears, but thats about all i can tell. |
It's not a question of whether it's worn - every cassette that has one mile on it is worn to some extent - it's a question of whether it's worn too much.
Change the chain. If the cassette skips then it's worn too much. BTW, New Posters - please READ THIS |

Well, there's the unspoken assumption that it's adjusted properly... but yes.

i use friction shifters so there isnt I'll just see if there is a point when it doesnt skip (assuming it skips with a new chain).
