Need Help With a Bike?
I have seen many people asking for information that can be had on the net. I think a post with sites that offer good information is needed.
Here is a list of the sites I have come across...
https://www.bikeforums.net/
I think this is one of the best sites for repairs and adjustments.
https://www.parktool.com/repair/bikemap.asp
Also excellent.

Sometimes a video is the best teacher.

Need specs on a particular bike? This site has info on numerous brands and goes from 1993 to 2010.
https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Default.aspx
If you like building your own wheels, this site has spoke measurements needed for many different hubs.
https://wheelbuilder.freebiketools.org/hub/list
This site describes how to mix and match different types and makes of rear gear mechanism, shift lever and sprocket cassette or freewheel.

Please add your favorite sites.

Ian

If you want to identify the probable age of your bike, the vintage Trek site cannot be beat. They list most of the common component codes. Look them up, and the age of your components (if they are original) will give you the age of your bike. And yes, it doesn't matter what brand bike you have.

Another repair site, somewhat mountain bike oriented (but not limited to mountain bikes) is the Utah Mountain Biking site:
