Campagnolo 10-speed compatibility question
I am currently working on building up my early 1990s eddy merckx with 10- speed Campagnolo Chorus. I want to keep the build classic looking, all alloy, no carbon stuff.
The Ergos I have are 2003 10-speed chorus. Do I need 2003 chorus front and rear derailleurs or will any 10 speed chorus derailleurs work?
Just want to make sure there are no strange things I need to know about.
Thanks!

Any 10s Campy parts should work with any other 10s Campy parts.

However, Campy did change the geometry of their front derailleurs for the QS stuff I'm not sure if the QS front derailleurs will work properly with earlier (or later) brifters. I'd use a 2006 or earlier fd to be sure.

2003 shifters will work with any model FD or RD, except a 2000 model RD, which is the only year of 10 speed, prior to the actuation ratio change in 2001. The QS double FDs from '07-'08 merely require one more click to cover the full range of travel (4 instead of 3). There are two possible cable routings for these FDs and either one seems to work.
The QS shifter feature reduced the dead travel from the left finger lever. That is still present in the new '09 shifters, but it is no longer an advertised feature, since the entirely new ultrashift mechanism is the big news.
The '09 FDs have been changed once again. The cable must be routed over the left side of the metal guide tab, then under the head of the clamp bolt. Some people routed the cable between the tab and clamp bolt. This routing does not work. The lever arm becomes too short, causing excessive finger lever pressure and not trim ability. One click of the thumb button will drop the chain onto the little ring rather than trim the cage to the left.

Sounds good. Thanks for the help everyone!
And if anyone knows a good resource to finding some circa 2002-2003 Campy Chorus stuff please get in touch!
