STI Brifters (8-speed) + Ultraglide

Will Dura Ace 8-speed brifters work with a thread-on UNIglide freewheel*, or would I need to switch to a Hyperglide "freehub" cassette?
Is there such a thing as a Hyperglide freewheel, or had everything pretty much gone to freehub cassettes by the HG era?
And finally, will 7400 derailleurs work?

Sorry if this has been covered, but I spent more than half an hour experimenting with different search terms in here and Sheldon Brown's Dura-Ace compatibility page, and was unable to find my solution.

Grazzi!

*P.S. Sorry for the confusion in the title. I've been calling it "UG" for so long, I forgot it's UNIGLIDE not UltraGlide. [High-fives own forehead.]

The 8-speed Dura-Ace right shifter has a proprietary cable pull designed to work with the proprietary actuation ratio of a D-A 8-speed rear derailleur. Neither of these components work well with components of other groups unless you know of some way to trick the setup.

Thanks Al.
I understand that the STI levers will work with the Dura Ace 8-Speed Hyperglide cassette; but will it also work with the D/A 8-speed Uniglide freewheel?

And I've got the 7402 Rear derailleur, which works fine with bar-end and down-tube shifters, so I presume it will also work with the STI levers... ?

There never were Shimano 8-speed UG or HG freewheels. However, Sachs and Sunrace (and perhaps others) did make 8-speed Shimano compatible freewheels. Technically they are not HG since that is a Shimano trademark but they do have shifting ramps. The DA 8-speed shifters/derailer will work with those.

There are Shimano HG freewheels but they are 7-speed.

Wow--What a dumb question I asked.
And an even bigger wow is that I got an answer without being ridiculed. (Are you guys new to this forum?)
Seriously though, thanks!
