ok i own a hard-tail trek 6 series model 2008 i want to replace the rear quick release because it has broken ,the metal shaft that runs through the wheel is bent really bad.. i have found alot of quick release systems to replace the broken one but how do i know the new one will fit and i want to buy a titanium one too im extremely knew to this so can someone help me out

If your rear QR-skewer was bent inside the hub, then your rear axle may be bent as well. As you are new to this, I'd take it to a shop - or a knowledgeable fellow cyclist and have this looked at. A bent axle shouldn't be ridden on.

As for a replacement QR-skewer, save your money by forgetting about titanium. Titanium is used mostly by racers who need to shave off every gram of weight they can to give them an advantage. What's more, titanium is more likely to break. It's not the right material to use on a mountain-bike or hybrid. Find a good steal one - and measure the length of the old one. I'll guess your rear hub is 135mm.

Whatever bent the QR skewer had to have done some damage to the axle. You may have a trashed wheel. Get it to a shop. And steel is by far the best material for QR.

I think you got the tense wrong here, it should be, "Find a good stolen one."

I believe he meant that the OP should steal one that's made from steel.

well i dont think the damage is that bad but will this application be suitable

see the problem is i live two and half hours away from the nearest bike shop so i want to see if i can fix this problem myself

You want a genuine Shimano quick release. They grip a lot more tightly than most of the aftermarket skewers. Rears are longer than fronts so be sure you order the one that you need.

That dt swiss skewer is dumb and definitley not worth $70. A standard AL shimano QR will be the best money can buy.

Ok, now that I got that out of my system, the DT skewer you have linked to won't fit your bike. It's for a 10mm through bolt hub which, if you linked to the correct Shimano skewer, you don't have. You need a standard skewer with a 5mm shaft. As others have said, just get a Shimano skewer and be done with it. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, buy two for the next time you bend one.

Yes, that will work. Make sure to order the 135mm version. And check your axle too. Otherwise, you'll just bend another skewer.

BTW, I wasn't really mad. It's was kind of a joke based on your thread title (all the !!!!). I tried to make it slightly funny. Nobody seems to have laughed though. I'll try harder next time.

That's exactly the kind of QR skewer that you need. As stated above: 135mm. And do have your hub looked at. If the axle is bent/broken - you need more than a QR skewer.
