Fluid Trainer Not Working
Hey All,
I have a Volare Fluid trainer, which worked very well for me throughout the majority of last winter, but then stopped working well. My problem with it was that it would no longer apply a reasonable amount of resistance, consistently. I would basically be in my top gear and not be getting a workout. Then halfway through rides it would all of the sudden go back to normal resistance. When the snow melted, I kind of put of this problem, until now. I'm just wonering if anyone has had similiar problems and/or knows what I should do. I would hate to spend the 300+ to replace it, considering its just a few years old and worked great. Thanks, CycloManiac |
Have you contacted the manufacturer or supplier? Is the unit still under warranty? Obviously there are internal problems in the resistance unit but most of these are unservicable so it's probably going to have to be replaced either by the maker or with your own dime.
BTW, I have a Performance Travel Trac (their house-brand made by Elite) that is four or five years old and still working perfectly. AFAIK, Performance will warranty their products pretty much indefinitely. |
My fluid trainer lost most of its resistance after about a year, but that was because the fluid had leaked out. I contacted the manufacturer and they had me send the resistance unit back to the factory and they sent me a new one (or perhaps a refurbished one). $5 or $6 to mail it back was all I paid since it was still under warranty.
Your unit sounds like it has a different problem but maybe it's still under warranty and you can get it replaced. |
Thanks for the reply. Unforunately, I bought this used, so I don't have a receipt for it. I think I'll bring it in to my bike shop and see what they think about it though.
Thanks |
