MTB Anti-Lock Brakes?
What are the orange things on this bike, and what does "converted to Anti-lock brakes" mean in this posting?

It is local, so I was thinking about going for a drive to look at it out of nothing by curosity. I am not really interested in the bike.

Orange things look like a chain guide to avoid chain slap while doing stunts. I'd LOVE to see the "anti-lock brake conversion". As far as I know nothing of the sort exists for bikes. I'm guessing the seller has no clue what they are talking about. The general lack of info in the Ebay ad is another clue.

Maybe anti-lock brakes means he spread grease on the rotors. That would prevent them from locking. I prefer locking brakes myself.
The seller is either a fool or a liar. You sure you want to do business with a fool or a liar?

You Know!? For Kids!
Someone recently posted a pic of a bike with a TravelAgent and asked if it was some sort of brake anti lock. Wonder if this is related to that thread.

There has been devices over the years called 'anti lock', but are more like modulators. Here's a few more recent efforts:

ProMax came out with their Promax Hydraulic Disc Brake Modulator in 2008 and it can be turned off:

Hydraulic brakes are better candidates for an anti lock system. Mechanical anti lock systems were used on cars and were relatively simple in design and function. Electronic systems would be better but prohibitively expensive and you would have to place a battery somewhere to run it, don't think a hub generator is enough.
Personally, I don't see a need for it. Most people are going to lay their bike down and/or bail if there's no other option left (avoidance or braking).
