7800 drive train w/ 6700 cassette?

Do they mix well? The 6600 12/27 is pretty hard to get now (for a reasonable price) and the 6700 11/28 looks like it might work. I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this combo.

I know that the RD is designed to accommodate a max of 27, but they usually design in a conservative manner and I'm guessing a 28 max should be fine.

Thanks to all the gurus in advance!

Almost everyone who had tried it says a Shimano road rd will accept a 28 or even a 30T big cog so you should be ok.

BTW, can you find the 5600 (105 level) 12x27 cassette? Except for a very minor weight difference it's every bit as good as the 6600.
