Website for Shimano XTR Rebuild.
Does anyone have a good link to a website that will allow me to strip/rebuild my 8-speed Shimano XTR groupo. I need information from the bottom bracket to the rear wheel. I think that the groupo is the M-750 set and was new in 1998 (I think). TIA

I would check park tools out. The only thing that should not be standardized would be the b.b. and the cassette lock ring.

I dont recall shimano stop being very rebuildable.

If 1998 good luck in finding parts. One major disadvantage historically for Shimano stuff is that much of it is not designed to be rebuildable and for those items which are the parts seem to disappear quickly after a model is discontinued. Things such as rear derailleur pulleys are available but parts for things like shifters are not.

Second gen 8 speed XTR is the M950/951 group. A quick web search didn't turn up any technical documents, but the rear hub is pretty straight forward. Overhaul is the same as almost any other Shimano freehub.
The cranks and BB are a bit different. The arms can be removed without a crank puller thanks to the one-key release type bolts and caps. The BB bearings are unique as well -- each cup uses ball and needle bearings -- and it is serviceable. You will need the Shimano TL-UN96 tool to remove the BB.
