Cassette help

I was wondering if a SRAM cassette would work with shimano componets or not. It is a 9 speed just like the cassette on my bike now.

Yes, SRAM and Shimano cassettes are spaced alike.

demoncyclist 10-21-09 08:40 AM

Yes they are compatible.

SRAM cassettes and chains are a great alternative to Shimano.

Cassettes are compatible, road derailleurs and road shifters are not cross compatible.

Sounds like a QC failure with Jamis, albeit that Sram may have provided faulty cassettes to them.

FWIW, 5 out of my 6 bikes use Sram cassettes on Shimano drivetrains - no problems.
