1mo old Dahon, commuter duty - maintenance schedule?
Commuting in Toronto on a brand new D7 for the past month, hoping to treat it right. Has not been back to Urbane for it's check-up yet.
Fairly flat run but rough roads, often with cargo, often in the wet + dirty fall weather.
Washing the bike using Simple Green about weekly. Drying with compressed air.
Used a wax/oil spray under the front brake mounts after seeing a little rust trail out of each one. Also replaced the cheap stock pads with Kool Stops. Major improvement noticed!
Have had the chain off twice for cleaning, got a quicklink or whatever it's called. Cleaning with lacquer thinner in a pop bottle and lubed using BoeSheild spray.
Adjusted the handlepost latch tension yesterday and Loctited using #243, leaving to sit for 24hrs before use. It required about a 30 degree turn to bring it into adjustment - it hadn't been really snug from day 1.
Running 65psi front and rear. (planning to upgrade the Kendas to Schwalbes ASAP)
Can anyone with experience with these bikes comment / help?
Many thanks,
- Mike
