Barcons Slipping

Hey all,
I have barcon barend shifters on a project I am working on. The barcon I have on the front mech is slipping when the der is pulled to the third ring. I also had a problem with this bar end shifter on the last bike I had it on (on the rear). Is there possibly something wrong with the ratcheting mechanism? Is there something else I can check out? Is there a way to service it?

Any help? Thanks.

Barcons are friction shifting for the chainrings. There should be either a large screwdriver slot in or a D-ring attached to the pivot bolt that holds the lever in place. Just tighten it.

Big screw needs to be tight:

Actually, both center screws need to be really tight. I tend to get the biggest screwdriver that will fit in the slot and then really wail on it. The right side tend to be the problem- if it's not tight enough, the index/friction switch tends to slip out and cause the indexing to go cattywumpus.
