not sure what chain to get
 

called a few different bike and they weren't much help, just need to know which chain to use for my seven speed.
any advice would be greatly appreciated:)

If you look at any of the online retailers, they will tell you which chain. It's the same for 6,7 and 8 speeds. You just don't want a 9 or 10 speed chain. It would probably work, but you don't need it. Basic chain is usually KMC Z chain.

I would go with a SRAM PC850. This is an 8 speed chain that work very well with 6,7, or speed setups.

Is it SunTour 7-speed, or Shimano-spaced (i.e., pretty much everyone else besides SunTour)? if it's the latter, then the SRAM PC850 will work fine. If it's SunTour, maybe or maybe not.

Many say they have good luck with a PC850 and a SunTour 7, but I run a ST ultra-6 (basically the same narrow spacing as an ST 7), and the PC850 doesn't shift well on the middle cogs. I changed to a Campy C9 chain, which is a tad better, but not as good as it should be.

You most likely don't have a ST 7 FW, unless your bike is from the '80s. I'm kinda just posting here to fish for other ideas about my own problem! :)
