Internal ger hub on steamroller

not sure if this should go here..

I have a Surly Steamroller, which has 120 mm spacing in the back. I want to get an internal gear hub to ride part of the time. I 've been looking at them and it seems all of them are spaced at 130mm. are there any that are the correct spacing for my bike?

I don't know if any. But you should be able to fit one to your steamroller. Steel will flex enough to allow you to fit it.
I run a Rohloff on a Salsa La Raza. Just had to stretch the rear triangle.

Check out Sturmey Archer. I believe some of theirs are made for narrower spacing.

Sturmey Archer's AW is made for 120mm spacing, they also make hubs for narrower spacing.

The old Shimano 333 is also for 120mm.

Most 2 and 3 speeds are narrower-110-118.
The 4 and 5 speeds are usually about 122.
The 3 and 5 should be readily available-the 2 and 4 harder to find.

The SRAM P5 five speed no brake hub is 122mm OLD. I am using it in an old track type frame with about 118mm dropout spacing w/o any problems.

looking at the Sturmey Archers I came across the S3X. I'd heard about it a while back. it's the 3 speed fixed gear hub and its spacing wuld fit my bike. I cannot find an online store or anything that shows how much these hubs cost. would anybody know of the price?

Used to use a SA 3 speed on my steamroller, works nice but lack of brazeons means you got to run a whole lot of housing.

Many Sturmey 3, 5 and 8 speed freewheel, coaster and drum brake models; Shimano 3-spd coaster, SRAM T3 and P5.

Supposed to be hitting distributors in the USA any time now. Availability has been delayed a long time from the originally announced date. Also no actual announced MSRP but per some posts I have seen it is going to be a lot more than any other SA 3 speed hub.

Mmmm... yep- nobody's yelled "I got mine" yet. The Single & Fixed Gear forum is all over the Sturmey S3X hub:

just came across my answer, kind of. Bike island has a wheelset with the sturmey archer s3x laced to Alex Subs for $250. http://bikeisland.com/cgi-bin/BKTK_S...ls&ProdID=1708

shifter, housing, cable, and cog included. seems like a good deal.

Re-cycle: cool set-up. What did you use for holding the housing to the frame?
