tire width equivalents inches to metric??
i got rid of my wife's 27inch wheelsets. They were labled as 27 x 1 1/4". What is the equivalent width in 700c? 35c???

Tyre width also varies depending upon the rim-width you're mounting them on. A 32mm tyre should be mounted on a rim with 18-20mm inside width to yield the 32mm tyre-width. Mounting that tyre on a more common 16-18mm wide rim would result in actual tyre-width of about 28-30mm or roughly equivalent to 27x1-1/8".

this is true. i assume OP knows about the smaller wheels. if not, OP you need to lower the brake pads about 4mm. if you can not, you either need to put the 27s back on, or get new calipers that will reach.
