front hub on a rear wheel?
I'm somewhat interested in building up a spare rear wheel by using a bolt on cog on a disc brake mount (a la velo solo, etc). I have a spare front disc brake hub laying around and I'm wondering how possible it would be to swap out the axle and space it to act as a rear hub. Anyone done this? Any reason why I shouldn't give it a shot?

Have you considered chainline issues?

the velo solo faq has everything you need to know

Ah, didn't realize they went into it on the site. Should've checked beforehand. Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Been done and possible.

I've done it. Used a 10mm axle and cones from a spare rear hub, spacers arranged for no dish on a 130mm OLD, the chain line came out at 46mm, perfect for the outer ring of a road double. Can't tell you about the longevity off the smaller wheel bearings, I haven't ridden enough to find out.
