"short reach" 105 brakes on eBay?
my friend is trying to upgrade his no-name brakes to match his used 105 double component group from like '01. he saw some on eBay that said they were "short reach". his tires are 700x25.
what is at issue here? is this a standard brake or is there a "long reach" brake or something? are we talking about whether or not it has the little swivel thing like my RSX group does that spaces the brake out to allow the tire to come free? (i've noticed that not all brakes do that, but i've never heard this "reach" thing before) i tried to search first - honest. thanks... |
"Reach" refers to the distance from the brake mounting hole to the brakeing surface of the rim. Usually, bikes that have fender clearance under the fork need long reach brakes. On a road bike that new, I'd GUESS that the short reach brakes will be fine.
