Adding on to the 'Repair Stand' Thread...

Does anyone know if there's a quality clamp like a Park Tools workstand clamp that's female threaded? My current stand is two feet of galvanized pipe anchored into the support between my two garage doors. The clamp is some PVC monstrosity that I rigged up with a horrible lock-draw catch and a bunch of nuts that have been marking the seat posts.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm not sure what you mean exactly by female threaded, but I've seen the wall mount Park stand used pretty creatively with other hardware for custom free standing or mounted stands. It's the normal park stand clamp with only the minimum receptacle to mount it to just about anything. Here's a link:

+1 Get the wall mounted Park model. Note, it will cost you as much or more than a complete Park stand used on Craigs List.

As much as I'd like the Park, the support where my current stand is mounted wouldn't work due to the rails for my garage door. They're on either side of the stud and come around it like 5 inches in. If this makes sense, that's why my stand comes out from the wall so much. The Park stand wouldn't allow me to pedal the bike without hitting the rails.

I just wrap a piece of grip shelving around the seat post, then use this to hold on. works pretty well.

DRietz, I was suggesting you mount the "wall mount" stand to an extension of your own construction. If you're looking for a permanent stand in a weird place like that, it's the easiest way to get a shop quality clamp mount that just bolts on.
