8 speed STI shifters to a 10 speed ultegra rear derailure

Would my 8 speed sti brifters work with a 10 speed ultegra rear derailure?
I am thinking to use a 9 speeed chain.
What do you guys think?
Thanks

As long as you are using an 8 speed cassette the der will be ok. Use an 8 speed chain.

A 9-speed chain should work.

Not if it's 8-speed Dura Ace shifters.

I've had trouble with a 9-speed chain on an 8-speed version crank - kept throwing it to the inside no matter how I adjusted the FD.
