Which particulate mask is recommended when working around carbon fiber dust

Preparing to cut my carbon steerer. Will do so outside, will tape to reduce dust. Just to be safe, I want to wear a particulate mask. Local home depot carries the basic N95 masks, nothing that is specifically rated for work around carbon fiber dust. Any recommendations for something readily available? thanks

if you are only cutting 1 fork then its really no big deal. get a respirator if you are really worried. can also have a misting setup(garden hose and a friend) to keep the dust down

N95 respirators are used in hospitals to protect against teeny tiny microbes like mycobacterium (TB) floating around.

"Industrial health studies have shown that, unlike some asbestos fibers, carbon fibers are too large to be a health hazard when inhaled. They can be an irritant, however, and people working in the area should wear protective masks."

N95 should do the job.

Call a shop that specializes in safety-equipment. Such as asbestos. Ask them for their advice in a fine-particulate dust-mask. They are not too expensive. And I would strongly suggest you have one when you are exposed to that stuff. Carbon-fiber will likely be the next asbestos medical situation. Why wait?
