SRAM red shift cable routing

You guys may have to use very little words, as apparently I've got plenty of brainpower to deal with shimano STI levers, but I'm having trouble routing the shift cable through the (darn) shifters.

I think I see a little spot on the inside bottom of the shifter where it looks like cable is supposed to run, but I put it in, it goes in a little bit, and just sticks.

Feel free to mock me as much as you please after you help.

The red shiftes are the same. They exit on the side of the lever towards the centerline of the bike. You need a fresh 1.1mm stainless cable and you should be able to eye the socket where the cable head would sit - the cable has to hit the the side of the lever and curve upwards to where the cable exits. You'll need a reasonable amount of force to do this usually. Make sure you are using a new and uncut cable

Here is the relevant instructions off srams website with diagrams:

That's a more useful techdoc than the one I found. Thanks.

My cables are double ended campy/shimano. I *have* to cut them before I put them on. I don't own a soldering gun, as I've read doing a quick web search - am I just going to need to buy different types of cable?

Should buy cables with only one end. Not to say it's impossible, just much harder to do it. You should try the soldering trick.

A drop of superglue on the end works almost as well as soldering, for the solder-impaired.

Let it dry first.
