I can't find anything on the web so here's hoping.
What size diameter seatpost for a Scott Peak 22" frame cromoly ?

I bet you could measure it:D usually seatposts in mm's are 26.0, 26.2, 26.4 26.8, 27.0, 27.2, 30.9, 31.6 just measure it

well theres nothin, measure it or take it to your local bike shop

well, the only thing i've found so far is a Scott vantage 3 aluminum frame uses a 31.6 mm post. this was on Sheldon Brown's site.

measuring it is the only way to get an accurate size. The sizes are so close together that if you try to guess you may be wrong. When your talking about tenths of mm and such its like splitting hairs...literally. If you don't have the equipment to measure it, take it to a bike shop or a machine shop, they will have a caliper that can measure it.

If you have a friend in high school or community college, the auto shop or metal shop teacher can probably help you out.

It may be splitting hairs, but is the measurement taken with the clamp open or closed?

The measurement would be taken with the clamp open, because you know how when its full open the seatpost perfectly fits in, then you tighten it.

Scotts aren't sold in the US anymore, what a shame.:(

I would. I owned a Scott Chenango cromoly MTB I took to my first trip to W Va. Rode like a champ, even in those benighted days before front suspension. Unfortunately I positively destroyed the frame in an accident shortly thereafter.

My chenango took a 26.2
