Dura-Ace 7800 DT shifters on a Surly
I'm building up a Surly right now, and I've been trying to go the eBay route for the build. I got a pair of Dura-Ace SL-7800 downtube shifters from a seller in Taiwan, but they only included the flat lever boss covers intended for alloy frames. Since it's going on a steel frame with small-diameter tubing, I need the rounded ones.
Right now, I have my local independent mechanic checking his parts bin for these, but if he can't find 'em, what are my other options?
Also, why would Shimano only include the flat ones? Are they sold under a different part number?

Yeah, there's a lot of good reasons to go 9-speed, but I really want 10-speed so I can swap wheels back and forth with my road bike and not change cassettes. One of my wheelsets, the one I'll probably be using most on this bike, is actually 10-speed only, so 7800 or 7900 shifters are really my only (indexed) option. I want 7800 rather than 7900, because I already have a compatible FD. Shimano claims that the 7900 shifters won't work with earlier front derailleurs because of the revised cable pull; it may or may not work, since it's friction, but for an almost-all-new build, why chance it?

Wiggle.UK has the D/A 7700 levers for ~$44. I have a set on the way for a similar build. With DT levers you can use friction as well, if not better, than indexing IME.

7700 series derailleurs had different cable pull, that would be more of an issue.
