quick threadless headset question...stem related too.

I just bought a new headset top cap-mounted water bottle cage holder. Quick question: If my headset is properly adjusted, and my stem is clamped down firmly, when I remove the headset cap to install this new gizmo, do I still need to then unclamp my stem and go through the bearing adjustment process?

Here is the device by King Cage:

No, do not loosen your stem pinch bolts. No need to.

Technically, no.

Okay, so it sounds like once the headset is adjusted, the stem is clamped down and will hold everything in place. I can remove the top cap bolt, attach the device under the cap, put the bolt back in, and off I go. As long as I don't tighten the top cap bolt to the point it pulls out the star nut that is! Am I right on this?
